PR News Names ING Foundation President Rhonda Mims One of Four CSR Executives of the Year Award Winners
New York, NY— ING Foundation president Rhonda Mims has been named one of four winners of PR News’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Executives of the Year award. PR News’ CSR Awards are highly regarded and widely considered one of the leading awards competitions of its kind.
The awards recognize “people and companies that successfully demonstrate that altruism, philanthropy and an employee commitment to ‘do good’ can go a long way towards making an impact on a community, key stakeholders and on a company’s bottom line.” Entries are judged by a blue chip panel of corporate and agency executives and academicians as well as by the staff of PR News.
The three other winners in the CSR Executives of the Year category are Agata Tyszkiewicz of Publicis, Jeff Glueck, chief marketing officer of Travelocity.com and Kevin Moss of the BT Group (formerly British Telecom).
The award recognizes Mims’ efforts to bring strategic focus to ING Foundation’s giving strategy and to develop an advocacy platform around financial empowerment, particularly among underserved communities such as minority women and youth.
“Our goal was to maximize our impact in our communities and across the businesses by better aligning our charitable, advocacy and employee volunteer efforts with our core competencies,” said Mims. “With the help of Tiller, we focused on financial empowerment because the need is terribly urgent and ING has the expertise and resources to effect positive, sustainable change.”
“On behalf of all the employees of ING, we are thrilled that PR News has seen fit to recognize our efforts,” said Mims. “It’s an honor to be associated with global leaders in corporate citizenship like Travelocity and BT Group.”
The award ceremonies will be held on February 26, 2009 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
