Jim Marren, President

Jim Marren is an experienced corporate communications counselor and practitioner who has held senior positions at some of the nation's leading financial and professional services communications agencies. An accomplished financial writer, Jim's special practice areas include corporate positioning and strategic message development, crisis communications, and the creation and execution of research-based PR programs.

At Tiller, Jim's client involvements have included BlackRock, OppenheimerFunds, New York Life, JPMorgan Chase Asset Management, Envestnet, Evermore Global Advisors, Citigroup Asset Management, and Comfort Zone Camp.

Prior to joining Tiller, Jim was a managing partner with TorranceCo, a New York-based corporate and financial communications firm. His clients included The American Institute of Architects, Chase Personal Financial Services, The College Savings Foundation, General Electric Commercial Finance, Korn/Ferry International, Nationwide, and the Money Management Institute. Jim joined TorranceCo's predecessor firm, Powell Tate New York, in 1996 from Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart (now Ogilvy Public Relations), where he was a managing director/director of client service with the firm's corporate and financial group.

At Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart, Jim designed and executed corporate positioning, media relations, investor relations, research, and marketing communications programs for a broad range of clients, including the American Management Association, The Chubb Corporation, Standard & Poor's Corp., T. Rowe Price Associates, and Union Bank of Switzerland. Before joining Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart in 1985, Jim was a managing editor in the Public Affairs department of McGraw-Hill, Inc.

Jim holds an M.A. in journalism from Stanford University and a B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. He is a member of Le Moyne's Board of Regents and the editorial advisory board for the Le Moyne College Magazine.
